Namesake: Colonel Henry Mucci
U.S. Army Colonel Henry "Mooch" Mucci of Bridgeport, Connecticut was in the U.S. Army Rangers during World War II. In January 1945, he led what is considered one of the most successful military rescue missions in the history of the U.S. military. He and his team of 121 Army Rangers liberated over 500 people from the Cabanatuan Prison Camp in the Philippines. A movie called, "The Great Raid" (2005) was made to honor this operation. His career awards include the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Soldiers Medal, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. He passed in 1997.
